The Oracle of Bacon? Perhaps.
How many degrees of separation can you attain from one movie star to another. Think you can beat ME at this game? I found a 6-degree separation.

Hm. The best I've done so far is four, linking Cookie Mueller to Aamir Khan. Then I got distracted thinking about being in *between* Cookie Mueller and Aamir Khan. Mmmmmm, human sandwich..... -

Fri, August 6, 2004 - 10:47 AMalchemy, throughout its history, has shown a dual nature. on the one hand, it has involved the use of chemical substances and so is claimed by the history of science as the precursor of modern chemistry. yet at the same time, alchemy has, throughout its history, also been associated with the esoteric, spiritual beliefs of hermeticism and thus is a proper subject for the historian of religious thought. -

Re: Game #3
Sat, August 7, 2004 - 11:42 AMNow, you guys aren't as esoteric as I expected you to be ...
The first time I played this game, I was putting in all the famous silent stars (Helen Twelvetrees, Una Claire, Pola Negri, Mabel Normand), but quickly discovered that they'd all worked with someone who ended up making the transition to talkies (remember that Joan Crawford actually started off as a silent film star) ...
Then, I thought ... who had a short career? Peg Entwistle, perhaps? You know her -- the woman who jumped off the Hollywood sign. Alas, she made more films than you would expect.
Then, oh, then, dear reader(s), I remembered something interesting from the WWII era ... there was a time when politicians participated in movies in exchange for a soundbyte in the film to promote their "causes." Consider that a HINT.
And, what could be more removed from WWII "causes" than ... than ... ??? That's right ... gay porn.
To get a "6," enter: Eleanor Roosevelt and Ryan Idol. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
